Al Robles memorial
Built in 2009 to remember Al Robles, this memorial was first displayed at the Nihonmachi Street Fair. After the Fair it was moved to the studio space of Japantown Arts (JtA). When JtA folded, the memorial was moved back to my garden where it was built - from reclaimed lumber and bamboos that were grown here.Al Robles memorial, close-up

Kaleo's memorial
A memorial - built in 2007 - dedicated to my dog, Kaleo. The structure is modeled after the Japanese torii gate, portal to the next world.Kaleo's memorial and grave, 2011
These are all structures I built in my garden from reclaimed and found materials. Two of these are memorials – one to poet Al Robles and the other to my dog Kaleo. The stone slabs held by wooden structures are remnants and damaged pieces from another art project by artist, May Sun (Union Station, Los Angeles.) The lumber came from various home-improvement projects.
